One of the lovely challenges facing a new business is that you are (mainly!) in control of your own destiny! Choosing new products to include in your range is always a joy. As an on line business we obviously don’t have a real shop front to display our ‘stuff’ in so getting the right products & showing them as effectively as possible is key.
So, today’s new pack to go on the website is our freshers pack.
How do we decide what to put in it?
Simple, we ask students what they’d like & we ask parents what they’d like to give. there’s usually a little common ground in the two lists.
so here’s a picture of our new pack
For those of you who are not too sure why plastic cups & ping pong balls should be included then all I can say is beer pong.
If you have any ideas of other things to add then please let us know as we’d love to here from you.
All our ‘stuff’ is available on line at
why not have a look?
Yesterday’s to do list so quickly morphed into something completely different. as is so often the case in a small business! We’ve been racking our brains as to how to really get in front of students whilst not wishing (or being able to) spend the earth.
I’m sure this is a common problem for most small businesses.
I’ve now found myself starting most conversations with a phrase like “We’re not Unilver..” as some slick salesmen tries to convince me that £x thousands is a really good investment.
Anyway, a nice phone call from someone who was realistic, did understand the tightness of finance & was willing to negotiate has resulted in an agreement to E mail over 300,000 students next week. These are students who have already been accepted at Uni & are starting in Sept 2013.
So yesterdays list still (mostly) remains Todays list starts;
Design mechanic & advert to gain student interest
Brief graphic designers & website people (who are in Tenerife currently on holiday!)
Do everything else from yesterday & a little bit more..
Off to it methinks!
In the meantime photo of the day is from the stock room of some of the merchandise we have ready & waiting.
…how long does it take for writer’s block to disappear?
The first of (what could/may/heaven forbid might) become a series. Please feel free to delete as applicable (that’s the options, not the blog!)
So briefly, what will be the theme of this blog?
Well, we’re a new start up business here in the UK aiming to provide students with a variety of themed parcels which satisfy a need. That need may be a top up of essentials, a supply of that all so important safety equipment or just a treat to show they’re not forgotten.
Anyway, this isn’t a sales pitch but I felt it important to provide a little background. There’s plenty more on Facebook, our website, Pinterest, Twitter etc etc.
So, enough nearly for today except just time to ruminate on today’s to do list.
In no particular order;
1) Speak to some more Student Unions about booking stands at their Freshers Fairs in September
2) Review some print designs
3) Design & order some Polo shirts for wearing at said Freshers Fairs
4) Whole load of boring paperwork, accounts type stuff etc
Off we go…
Oh here’s a lovely photo taken by our design Director (aka daughter!) of some of the printing which has been delivered
